Info: Magick: People: Evan Harris Walker

Evan Harris Walker is commended to our attention here mostly because of his researches and theories involving the brain's use of quantum mechanical processes thus conceivably having at least the potential to perform processing that somehow escapes the limitations of classical mechanistic (automatic) processes. Whether quantum mechanics truly does somehow manage not to be truly automatic is maybe still up for discussion, but as long as quantum mechanics is thought to not be classical in a sense that implies it might somehow not be deterministic then maybe Evan Harris Walker's papers might be showing us that our consciousness, and thus maybe our actual lives, might somehow either not be deterministic or, at least, have a theoretical potential to avoid being deterministic. Thus basically Evan Harris Walker's importance to us at present is that he might have provided us with information which might offer some insight into how it could be that there could exist people who are not automatic people (automatons).

Evan Harris Walker's contrasting of classical processing of information in the brain as compared to quantum-mechanical processes and information seems interestingly similar in some ways to Gurdjieff's teachings about the mechanicalness of normal people and the possibility of an escape from that mechanicalness. Part of the scope of this website will include an attempt to compare ideas from the works of Evan Harris Walker and Gurdjieff along with some material from modern practical qaballah (or maybe Western Mystery Tradition).
